Glow in the Dark Concept Studio Toddler Anniversary!

Well our young studio just turned 2 years and a half! We been procrastinating about it (or very busy to celebrate..) but we decided to finally stop and acknowledge it! It was about time that our Collaborators, Interns and Team fully meet each other and have some fun time together outside of the studio offices… so well.. summer nights called for Bbq this year!

Cheers to all this memories and many more!

Visual development Worksop at Escola Iboix, Granollers, Spain! 2018

I can’t express how meaningful it was for us to put together a Visual Development Worksop for the students at the Escola Iboix, in Granollers, (Catalunya-Spain). I grew up in a small town very close to Granollers, and I was so excited to teach this kids about Visdev. Growing up we had very little resources and knowledge about the Animation/Entertainment Industry and I feel the little me back in time.. would really had died for an opportunity like this. So I felt it was an honor to give the workshop.

We prepared some exercises, some lectures and the students did an awesome job on their final presentation. We provided a lot of feedback afterwords. Was a very fun experience! We really look forward to keep collaborating and inspiring the students from the Escola Iboix!

Sijia and Lydia our Spring 2018 Interns!!

Another Intern-term comes to an end and we sadly have to say not really “goodbye” but hopefully “see you soon!” to our fabulous Creative Blips this term!

We are very thankful to be able to have in our team Sijia Luo who really helped us out with our Creative Blips look and Lydia Saldajeno who was a life savior when it came to research and organizing our crazy properties! We will miss you both! leant what our Creative Blips thought about their Internship at Glow in the Dark!

We were invited by one of our collaborators to have a Fun last day at the Drewamwork’s Campus!

Licensing Expo 2018!!!

We have been kind of bad at updating our news… so here it will be a long list of (I hope in some kind of fashionable order!) events we attended in this 2018!

Our mandatory visit at Las Vegas Licensing Expo 2018. After 3 days of really cool stands, entertainment and licensing news and panels, a tones of meetings and a lot of new and familiar faces to say Hi! We can say… that this year Expo was a success for Glow in the Dark!!! New great things ahead of us!!!

Keep posted!

Inspiring the Next Generation of artists at the CTN Teens Week!

Very happy to be able to attend to this super cool CTN Teens event organized at the CSG Gallery in Burbank as a part of inspiring and promoting Art as a Career for the next generation of Artists.

We were part of a set of Lectures along with other artists where we shared our experiences and answered Q&A from teenagers attending to a variety of the Burbank High Schools.

Can’t wait to see what they can do!

Denise our Fall 2017 intern!

That sad time of the year when we have to say "Goodbye, see you soon!" to our intern is here again... Sadness!!! This Fall we had the pleasure to have Denise Caro helping around, currently at the Woodbury University Animation program.  To have a proper farewell we visited our collaborators Alberto Corral and Ryan Hansen, at the Dreamworks Campus. We had a good time! We will miss you Denise, really thanks for your help!

CTN-Xperience 2017!!!!!

We survived once more to CTNX! This year was a bit special for us! Not only was the first one fully promoting the studio, but also was the first one trying something different! was kind of scary... but went great! We were very excited to set up on Wednesday night our new booth with our new goodies, new flyers, some stickers, portfolio reviews... and lectures!

We definitely have to thank all our tablemates: Benson Shum, Trent Correy, Michael Woodside and Melany Altuna for being great to be with! Also our great collaborators Ryan Hansen and Annushka Almendros and Denise Caro (Our great intern!) for helping us to hold the fort! And to all of you that came by to say Hi!!, participated in our portfolio review and got interested in meeting with us and learn about the studio!! Was great to see new and old faces!

Thanks to everybody that came to our "From idea to Pitch" panel !!! Was very incredible to see how many of you are interested in pitching and developing original content. The panel was nervewracking for us (The good kind of nervewracking tho!) since it was a full house audience and a great turnout! We definitely had a lot of fun and we hope you all enjoyed as we did!

Thanks also all the CTNX team for their support and extra time for questions!!

Thanks also all the CTNX team for their support and extra time for questions!!

And last but not least, thank you to Casey Robin for inviting Katia Grifols to be part of her great "Freedom of Freelancing" panel this year. Was great to sit once more with Nic Gregory and Alina Chau to discuss the wonders of freelancing! Thanks also to all the people that came or saw our panel live!

And all of that wouldn't have been possible without the invencible teamwork from of our Studio Manager Maureen Macomber and our Studio MasterMind Katia Grifols! So one more time we survived and succeed to the best Animation Convention of the year! Thank you all for being there!

Month of Books!!

Here some cool news! Finally, two of our very early projects here at the studio has seen the light this month!

Please let me introduce you "Cosas que pasan cuando llevas vida de Artista". This book was started by Katia Grifols, the year before she decided to start Glow in the Dark, so in essence was the book that started everything! It's an autobiography of how those terrible moments in life can bring you the best moments as well. A book that was painful and very rewarding at the same time, very honest and has a sense of humor. This book was sold to Planeta (Spain) about a year and a half ago out of a Pitch at the Salo del comic de Barcelona.

The next book we are very excited to be part of is "Yeguas".  A book published by Ediciones Invisible that collects amazingly inspiring quotes by great feminas illustrated by amazingly talented feminas, where Katia Grifols was selected to be part of.  Katia was given the assignment to illustrate Roxane Gay's quote and she was very excited given she really admires her work and personality.

We're Finalists at MIA Animation Festival!

Hey, everyone! It's been awhile...we've had our noses on the grindstone, creating exciting new content 'round the clock... but we wanted to share our great news with you!

We've been selected as finalists in the MIA Animation Pitch to the Industry event! What this is is a contest for creators - like us - to get to pitch one of our own creative concept projects live to a panel of animation industry pros.

As one of the top finalists, we've been invited to pitch a project of ours, SCREAM'INN, in person in Miami! We'll be there for the entire conference (October 13-14), so let us know if you'll be there- let's say hi! We're very excited for the opportunity; all the gears are in motion, and we're crunching to get everything in tiptop shape! 3 weeks and counting...

More updates on the way soon - thanks for reading! Keep your fingers crossed for us (and for Scream'Inn!)

*Thanks to our awesome fall intern Denise for her help with this post!

Las Vegas Licensing Expo! May 2017

We have been so busy that we forgot to update about our Las Vegas Trip!!!! We got the chance to go on May 23-24 2017 to go to Las Vegas Licensing Expo! Was a wonderful opportunity for us to see the potential of licenses, meet with awesome production studios from around the world and to learn about this great industry that is behind the curtains of Entertainment. We also got to assist to the Nickelodeon Girls Lounge where we meet and learn from awesome women in the Licensing industry, super inspiring! We are so excited to see where all of this go, and for sure it was definitely a great experience that we will repeat next year!
